Are they really 1 in 50 or 1 in 100 year storms???
19 February 2013, by , in Uncategorized, No comments

I heard an interesting comment recently at a forum with insurance companies and meteorologists –

What happens if the 1 in 50 year storm occurs at the end of the 50 years and the next storm at the beginning of the next 50 years.

Does this terminology leave the public with a false sense of security?!

The severity of weather we are experiencing would be better seen as a warning to check you have appropriate insurance cover rather than a reason to reduce cover.

No matter which side of the ‘climate change’ debate you are on… it is worth chatting to an advisor about the types of cover that best provide you with a strong ‘umbrella’ of cover.
